Draught Horse Society Training Weekend 10th & 11th March, Biloela
The Draught Horse Society is putting on a Training and Working Weekend on the 10th March, 2012. This will be held at Lawgi - Jack and Jo Rackham's place approx 30km Sth of Biloela. Full camping, toilet and shower facilities available. Catering will be supplied by the local Rural Fire Brigade Fundraising Committee for Lunch and tea. Morning and afternoon tea will also be provided at a small cost.
We will be running small raffles over the weekend so bring your small change. We are also seeking donations for our raffles, if you have anything you would like to donate please contact Jane on the number at the bottom of the page.
Training and working sessions will include:
• Ploughing
• Harness
• Showing in harness
• Restoring old working harness
• Farriery
• Show Preparation and show ring etiquette
• Mini judging workshop
• Possibly a vet talk on breeding
People are welcome to bring their own horses but this won't be necessary, there will be working horses available for everyone to have a go. We welcome horses of ANY heavy horse breed or heavy cross breed. We are not being governed by any particular society and encourage all newcomers to the heavy horse world to come along, meet new people, learn and have fun.
You don't need to even own a horse or be in any breed society to attend, we don't discriminate, and we just want to share the knowledge! Working and keeping heavy horses is a dying tradition. We have one aim, to bring it back to life!
